Mommy / Baby Favorites

Baby Favorites

1. Giraffe Car Seat Accessory by Mud-Pie is the first toy that Adler has paid any attention too. It mainly has been our ceiling fan :-) 2. Nighttime Swaddler by Halo is a must have at night. We have gone without it for a few nights and Adler simply did not sleep as peacefully. 3. Mamaroo by 4 Moms is nice to have in addition to a swing. Adler likes the Mamaroo first thing in the morning and when I put him down while he is asleep. 4. Binky by Wubbanub. Oh my! Adler loves his binky. We have several of these. He likes holding onto the animal and in return stays in his mouth better.

Mommy Favorites

1. Bamboo Blankets by Aiden + Anais are so soft! Because of the fabric and the size it makes swaddling much easier. 2. Baby All Detergent smells amazing! It makes doing laundry much more fun. 3. Pump and Style Advanced by Medela is convenient and easy use. I personally feel the Medela pumps are better than the one I used in the hospital. 4. Pamper Swaddlers have worked the best for us. Other brands that we tried leaked and did not fit as well. 5. Burpy by Aiden + Anai are a nice upgrade to your traditional burp cloth that are stiff and rough. 6. There is nothing better than a baby lathered with Baby Magic. I put lotion on Adler several times a day to keep his newborn skin hydrated and he keeps him smelling yummy too ;-).

6 Weeks Old

Adler Tate is 6 Weeks Old! It is true, time really does fly by fast. I am amazed by how much he has developed in a short 6 weeks. I look back at the pictures when we were still at the hospital and I am amazed by how much he has changed. It is bittersweet for sure! I wish time would just stand still. This little guy has stole my heart and each day I some how love him even more. Being a mommy to this little guy is pretty amazing! The love I have for him is a love that I have never experienced. There is no words that could ever explain, but I am sure every mom or dad has experienced with their children.

1 Week Check-Up

Adler is HERE!!!!

I was scheduled to be induced at 7am on 5/14/2013. I woke up around 1am to go to the restroom. When I stood up, a gush of water came out. My water had broke. I was fairly shocked considering only 20% of women's water breaks. I called labor and delivery, they suggested that we head in ASAP. We arrive at the hospital, they confirmed my water did break, and went ahead and admitted me. I guess our little guy wanted to make his arrival on his terms. The rest is history and we now are holding our little one in our arms and could not be happier.

Team Adler

Team Adler shirts are here just in time! They are too cute, I had to share. Chris is clearly just as obsessed with this little guy and ordered special shirts for family to wear to the hospital to welcome Mr. Adler Tate. I am hoping to get a picture of those in the waiting room with their shirts on the big day. I cannot believe he will be in our arms soon ;)

Baby Shower

I wanted to share a few of the pictures from the shower (there are more pictures posted on my facebook account). Tori (a friend for 20+ years) and Ronette (my Sister in Law) put this together for us. They put so much thought into the shower and made this day extra special. Every detail was just perfect!

38 Weeks and 6 Days

                                          (Picture taken around 30 Weeks)

How far along? 39 weeks tomorrow! I reeeally would love it if Adler made an appearance this week!

Total weight gain: -14lbs! I am down 14lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. I cannot complain ;)

Maternity clothes: I have bought very few maternity clothes during the pregnancy. Sweat pants and dresses have been my best friend the last trimester.

Stretch marks: I have some stretch marks on the right side of my stomach. This seems to be the area he stays in the most. I purchased Mama Mia body butter early on and did not seem to help.

Sleep: Sleep used to be one of my favorite things. These days it is hard to get comfortable to fall asleep and once I do, I wake up to go to the bathroom. The trips to the bathroom can range from every 5 minutes to every hour. I am sure most of you women can relate ;)

Miss anything? Not really!

Movement: They tell you towards the end movements decrease but you should at LEAST 10 movements a day. Little man can have 10 movements in an hour. He is an active little fellow.

Food cravings: I have not had any cravings throughout the pregnancy. Certain things do sound better than others but I have not had any mad dashes to the store in the middle of the night... Ha!

Anything making you queasy or sick? Brushing my teeth and Pizza!

Labor signs: Braxton Hicks Contractions have picked up over the past week. On Friday night, the contractions were so intense I decided to start timing them and they were 2 minutes apart for about 30 minutes and stopped. We went to the doctor today. I was so anxious to hear some good news. Unfortunately, he said my cervix was still closed. I CANNOT believe it! This little guy is taking his time. He clearly doesn't realize how ready his mommy and daddy are to meet him!!

Belly button in or out? In! Last week I thought it was starting to pop out but seems to be back to normal.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!

Looking forward to: Meeting Adler...C'mon on already!!!

Baby Adler's Nursery

 Adler's Nursery

Here are a few more pictures of Adler's nursery. We are lacking a few more things and we will be done.  I was so excited to find out the gender of the baby so we could start designing the nursery. This is something I had dreamed about for years. I am not a big fan of themed nurseries, so opted to go with a color scheme instead. The Saturday after Thanksgiving my mom, cousin, SIL, and I began project nursery. We first started off with picking yummy fabrics for the bedding and rocker and everything fell together from there. The next thing I picked out was the Iron bed. This was a gift from my mom and dad. I wanted something that was gender neutral and could be used again if we have more children. I found this one from Bratt Decor. I loved the pewter finish! We then found the changing table and black side table from a little boutique in Marlow, OK. The price was too good to pass up. We had one wall left for a piece of furniture and wanted a bookshelf. My brother volunteered to make this for his little nephew. He did an amazing job! This may be my favorite piece in the room! The next thing was artwork. I had seen the alphabet idea on pinterest and decided to do it above the changing table. It is hard to tell in the pictures, but we added some burlap throughout the room to bring in another natural texture. For this reason, I elected to keep the alphabet the "bare wood". On the wall behind the bed we painted an ogee design on the wall. The ogee pattern is in a color that is slightly different color than the wall. I wanted to keep everything in the room fairly soft.

Things lacking:
Large Black Frame - I have ordered a large black frame to go behind the baby bed. In the frame we plan to put a black and white picture of baby Adler after he is born.

Window Treatment - I met with a seamstress this morning. She is going to make floor to ceiling panels for the windows. We chose a white linen fabric that will add more softness to the room.

As I mentioned in the "Project Nursery" post, I love the way it turned out!

Update - 27 Weeks 1 Day

We are in the home stretch and officially in our 3rd trimester. We have 12 weeks and 6 days til our estimated due date. It seems like yesterday we were starting the IVF process and hoping for the best. At times, I feel like it is all a dream. Then, I feel this little guy kick me in the rib ;) Pregnancy so far has not been the easiest, but I am thankful for every minute.

As of today I am 9 lbs down from my "pre-pregnancy" weight. No need to worry though, little man is growing and measuring right on track. I am sure I will not be able to say that much longer, but hope I can keep the weight gain under control. I am scheduled for the very much anticipated glucose test on February 15th. Not really looking forward to this test, but praying I pass with flying colors. Towards the end of this month, we are going to schedule a 3D/4D ultrasound. Since our little guy is measuring around 2.5lbs they recommended that we schedule the appointment around week 30 so he can get a little weight on him.

Sneak Peek: Project Nursery

We designed this nursery to be a room that I loved. I will be spending most of my time in the months to come in this room and wanted something classic with rich fabrics. There are a few pieces left to complete the room but could not resist showing our progress so far.
I will post more pictures when it is complete.

Colors: Vintage Gray, Mustard Yellow, and Pewter
